Student research is focus of April 20 Phi Kappa Phi Symposium

ThirtyÌýGeorgiaÌýSouthern students will present their yearlong research projects at the University’s annual Phi Kappa Phi Research Symposium on Friday, April 20. The event, which includes both presentations and a poster session, begins at 8:30 a.m. in Room 3301 of the College of Information Technology Building and concludes at 2:30 p.m. Both the University community and the public are invited to attend. The symposium committee has approved 19 research projects with topics that vary from ‘In Defense of the Peripheries: The Genesis, Resolution, and Impact of theÌýDarbyÌý°ä²¹²õ±ð” to ‘A Qualitative Analysis of Dating Practices and the Shift over Time” to ‘A Molecular Modeling Study of the Aluminum Chloride-Promoted Reduction of Benzylidene Acetals.” The students’ research presentations will begin at 9:45 a.m. and continue until 1:15 p.m. The symposium committee has also approved 11 research projects for poster sessions. From 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., students will display posters and be available to discuss their research in Room 3301. A list of presentations and posters is below. Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest and largest collegiate honor society dedicated to the recognition and promotion of academic excellence in all disciplines. Since its founding in 1897, more than 1 million members have been initiated. Phi Kappa Phi has chapters on nearly 300 select colleges and universities in North America and theÌýPhilippines.
