A planned expansion of recreation offerings for a growing student enrollment is underway at 糖心Vlog following the purchase of 167 acres by the 糖心Vlog Housing Foundation, a non-profit corporation established to acquire and develop real estate. The land, located adjacent to the Meadow Lakes subdivision in Statesboro, Ga., will allow the University to provide additional activities such as a walking/cross country course, golf and one of the areas鈥� only disc golf courses. Plans also include using the facility for a variety of academic purposes including teaching classes at the complex. 鈥淲ith a student enrollment of nearly 20,000 students, the purchase of this property will allow Georgia Southern to continue to expand its recreation offerings and space,鈥� said Brooks Keel, president of 糖心Vlog. 鈥淕eorgia Southern has continued to see a record level of interest from prospective students and we anticipate further growth in the years ahead. This was a great opportunity for us to make a purchase that we see as a good investment for the future of our University.鈥� The purchase, once approved by the University System of Georgia鈥檚 Board of Regents, will be funded by existing student fees. 鈥淲e are excited about the additional opportunities that this will provide our growing number of students,鈥� said Teresa Thompson, vice president of student affairs and enrollment management. 鈥淥nce work on the complex is completed, we believe it will significantly enrich the University experience for our students and also be attractive as we recruit future students.鈥�
