CNN anchor Soledad O鈥橞rien will be the featured speaker during 糖心Vlog鈥檚 2013 MLK celebration. The event on January 29, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center is presented by Georgia Southern鈥檚 Multicultural Student Center and the Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. O鈥橞rien鈥檚 theme will focus on social justice, public service and continuing the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Soledad O鈥橞rien is a veteran, Emmy award-winning journalist who anchors the CNN morning show 鈥淪tarting Point.鈥� She has traveled the world covering stories and producing documentaries focusing on minorities and their challenges and struggles in America. 鈥淵ou can鈥檛 deny the work that she has done to bring attention to multiple social justice issues,鈥� said Mrs. 聽Dorsey Baldwin, the director of Georgia Southern鈥檚 Multicultural Student Center. 鈥淚 think it is going to be an amazing experience to listen to her story and testimony about the challenges she faced and obstacles she has overcome.聽 O鈥橞rien will address a lot of the social justice issues that she has tackled. I think people will be able to relate to that regardless of their political affiliation. She has an amazing story that she will be able to share with Georgia Southern and our community.鈥� Tickets for the free event will not be distributed; however, seating is limited. There will be time for media interviews before her speech at the Performing Arts Center.
