糖心Vlog fans and even those from opposing teams are getting a clearer look at home baseball games this season with the introduction of a new high definition (HD), online streaming experience. The new streaming service, offered online through the , includes live high-definition video of each home game.聽 In addition, the video stream features radio play-by-play from the Georgia Southern Radio Network鈥檚 Ryan Chambers and Chris Draper. 鈥淭he positive response has been overwhelming from our student and alumni fan base,鈥� says art Berger, producer and director for Georgia Southern Television. 鈥溙切腣log is one of the only university鈥檚 in the country to offer this professional level of video and quality of streaming service to their fans. Many of our fans now watch the game on their home internet connected HD big screen TV.鈥� The University recently upgraded its video capabilities through a partnership between 糖心Vlog Athletics and Georgia Southern鈥檚 Center for Academic Technology support.聽 The University project included an upgrade to fiber video transmission at all of the major stadiums across campus.聽 The upgrade included professional quality switchers and graphics as well as the ability to stream multiple streams simultaneously which can reach viewers from mobile all the way up to true HD streaming. The University鈥檚 investment in high definition capabilities is just the latest in a series of investments all designed to improve the fan experience.聽 In addition to baseball, the new technology will also be used for home football games as well as select, basketball, volleyball, soccer and softball events. 鈥淲e are very excited to showcase our student athletes and teams in high definition,鈥� said Tom Kleinlein, director of Athletics at Georgia Southern.聽 鈥淲hether you are a fan in California or a member of the military stationed in Afghanistan, you can now watch a Georgia Southern game in high definition from anywhere with an Internet connection.聽 This is not only an investment in our program, but an investment in improving our fan experience.鈥� In addition to athletics, HD video is benefiting other areas of the University.聽 Georgia Southern now offers live video of Commencement, research and even concerts and performances to viewers via its online University TV service ().聽 GeorgiaSouthernTV will also be an additional location to watch replays of Georgia Southern athletic events.聽 Georgia Southern will begin replaying events Monday-Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET. 鈥淭his is just the beginning,鈥� says Berger. 鈥淥ur goal is to continue to increase the amount of high quality content via online streaming to Georgia Southern fans, alumni and friends around the world.鈥� Georgia Southern alumni and fans can watch the high definition broadcast tonight (March 8) when the Eagles take on Wofford at 6:00 p.m. ET.聽 Visit to view the broadcast.
