Georgia Southern Theatre & Performance presents international performer Bill Bowers
Georgia Southern鈥檚 Theatre & Performance program with the help of a Campus Life Enrichment Committee (CLEC) grant is bringing Broadway star and professional mime Bill Bowers to campus for a special performance of his one man show 鈥淚t Goes Without Saying鈥 on Saturday, Jan. 23.
Join us for this fun and unflinching look at the life and mimes of Bill Bowers. 鈥淚t Goes Without Saying鈥 takes the audience on a scenic tour of the performer鈥檚 聽life thus far: from growing up gay in the wilds of Montana, his outrageous jobs as a performer, studying with Marcel Marceau and the whirlwind of working on Broadway. Bowers observes the incredible power that silence can wield – whether on stage, between family members, among neighbors or when we are alone. And he talks (yes, talks) with sensitivity, precision and constant humor about a life lived out loud.
Hailed by critics as the most accomplished and renowned mime of his generation, Bill Bowers currently performs and teaches the art of physical storytelling throughout the world. His methods and exploration of universal truths transcend the spoken word to educate and touch audiences in countries as varied as Poland, The Netherlands, Scotland, Japan, Macedonia, Romania, Italy, Germany, Norway, Germany and Austria.
An award-winning actor, Bowers has also performed in all 50 states and Puerto Rico appearing on the stages of Broadway, the Kennedy Center, the White House, Steppenwolf, LaMaMa, Theatre for a New Audience, St. Anne鈥檚 Warehouse, Urban Stages, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Ensemble Studio Theater, Radio City Music Hall, HERE, and the New York International Fringe Festival. His Broadway credits include Zazu聽in 鈥淭he Lion King鈥 and Leggett in聽鈥漈he Scarlet Pimpernel.鈥 聽He has also portrayed the great silent clowns: Charlie Chaplin in the world premiere of 鈥淟ittle Tramp,鈥 Pierrot in the world premiere of 鈥淏eethoven N Pierrot鈥 and 鈥淧etruchka鈥 with The Colorado Symphony. 聽聽聽聽聽
