The Zach S. Henderson Library at Georgia Southern has partnered with The Remnant Trust Inc., an educational foundation located at Texas Tech University, to showcase a collection of works including Magna Carta manuscripts, a first edition of Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes (1651) and more, all highlighting individual liberty and human dignity. The Remnant Trust was founded in 1997 and is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization. The Trust makes available to the general public a world class collection of manuscripts, first and early edition works, for use in original form. The mission of The Remnant Trust is to elevate educational standards and the public鈥檚 understanding of individual liberty and human dignity through the precedent setting, hands-on availability of the world鈥檚 great ideas in original form.鈥淭he selection of works that will be on display in Henderson Library from The Remnant Trust is truly extraordinary,鈥 said Bede Mitchell, dean of the Library. 鈥淲e are thrilled to be able to offer the public this opportunity to examine rare editions of some of the most influential thinking in the history of mankind. Confucius, John Milton, Frederick Douglass, Mary Wollstonecraft, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Nicolaus Copernicus 鈥 the range of selections is impressive, and we invite everyone to enjoy the exhibit and attend the Great Minds Lectures that will give us a greater understanding of the importance of these works.鈥Theis open from Jan. 18 through May 5 during the Library鈥檚 normal operating hours and complements the , which begins on Jan. 31.
