14th Japan Foundation Film Series coming to Georgia Southern
Anyone interested in learning about Japan and Japanese culture can do so at 糖心Vlog by attending the 14th Japan Foundation Film Series. The series is sponsored by the Japan Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Languages and the Office of International Programs and Services.
Lecturer of Japanese, Noriko Mori-Kolbe, Ph.D., said the series is a great way to introduce campus communities to Japanese culture.
鈥淭he goal of the series is for those curious about or interested in Japan to have the opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture and society through film,鈥 Mori-Kolbe said.
The series includes three films: 鈥淥yster Factory,鈥 鈥淎 Story of Yonosuke鈥 and 鈥淜arate-Robo Zaborgar.鈥 All films will be shown in Japanese with English subtitles.
鈥淥yster Factory鈥 is a documentary that touches on Japanese social issues through the lens of factory life, while 鈥淎 Story of Yonosuke鈥 is a coming-of-age drama that depicts interactions between a good-natured young man and his friends and is based on a serialized newspaper novel written by Shuichi Yoshida. Finally, 鈥淜arate-Robo Zaborgar鈥 is a film adaptation of a cult classic, special effects-laden superhero television series broadcasted on Japanese television in the 1970s.
鈥淥yster Factory鈥 and 鈥淜arate-Robo Zaborgar鈥 will be shown on both the Armstrong and Statesboro campuses, while 鈥淎 Story of Yonosuke鈥 will be shown only on the Armstrong Campus. For dates, times, locations and more information on the films visit .
