TimMarie Williams, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Health Sciences and Kinesiology at 糖心Vlog, has been named a 2018-2019 Governor鈥檚 Teaching Fellow for the academic year symposium program.
Williams was one of just 18 faculty members across Georgia who was selected after a highly competitive application and selection process. 鈥淗aving the privilege and honor to be selected as a Governor鈥檚 Teaching Fellow presents the ultimate opportunity to enhance my professional development as a tenure-track faculty, thereby augmenting exposure to interdisciplinary innovations within pedagogy while collaborating with faculty across the state,鈥 stated Williams. 鈥淜nowledge acquired will propel me to bring more inestimable value to our University and students as lifelong learners.鈥To be eligible, the individual must be a regular, full-time faculty member who teaches at an accredited public or private college or university in Georgia. Participant selection is based on the following factors: teaching experience, interest in continuing instructional and professional development, ability to make a positive impact on their own campus, and a commitment of support from the faculty鈥檚 home institution. Established in 1995 by Zell Miller, the Governor鈥檚 Teaching Fellows Program provides Georgia鈥檚 higher education faculty with expanded opportunities for developing teaching skills by addressing faculty members鈥 needs to use emerging technology and instructional tools that are being used in today鈥檚 society. To date, more than 75 different disciplines, professions and teaching areas have been represented by more than 600 fellows from more than 70 public and private institutions statewide.
