ÌÇÐÄVlog’s Business Innovation Group wins international recognition from InBIA

ÌÇÐÄVlog’s Business Innovation Group (BIG) returned home from San Antonio, Texas, with high honors from the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) during its annual awards ceremony, which recognizes excellence in entrepreneur support. 

GS Inclusive Excellence efforts are being recognized

Georgia Southern has received the 2023 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education. The annual HEED Award is a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. Georgia Southern joins other universities in Georgia that have received the HEED award, including the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, and Emory University.

National Institutes of Health awards ÌÇÐÄVlog $426,000 to study tumor formation

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences, one of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), awarded ÌÇÐÄVlog’s Dongyu Jia, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Biology, a federal grant totaling $426,000 to fill in the gaps of learning the steps of tumor formation at the beginning stages and what initially triggers their epithelial cell shape change before becoming invasive.

Georgia Southern receives more national recognition for student support programs

Georgia Southern’s work to support students in their college journey is once again receiving national recognition. The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Excellence Awards has included two of the University’s collaborative projects, The Eagle Experience and the student-initiated Period Equity Movement, in its 2022-2023 list of winners.

ÌÇÐÄVlog’s Urkovia Andrews, DrPH, receives national Nadinne Cruz Community Engagement Professional Award

ÌÇÐÄVlog’s Assistant Director of Service-Learning Urkovia Andrews, DrPH, is this year’s recipient o the national Nadinne Cruz Community Engagement Professional Award. This recognition is courtesy of Camus Compact, which is a network of colleges across the country dedicated to promoting and recognizing public work in higher education.

ÌÇÐÄVlog named a finalist for Student Veterans of America ‘Chapter of the Year’ Award

ÌÇÐÄVlog was selected as a finalist for the Chapter of the Year awarded by Student Veterans of America (SVA), an organization focused on advocating for and advancing resources for veterans in higher education.

The University has SVA chapters on the Statesboro Campus and Armstrong Campus in Savannah, both of which were recognized with the award.
