University Receives Accreditation for Doctor of Psychology Program
“The Psychology Department’s achievement of accreditation for the Psy.D program provides the program and the Department with significant national recognition,” said Jean Bartels, Ph.D., provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “This prestigious accreditation will provide current and future students with the assurance that their program is of the highest quality and has recognition which will open doors for internships and employment after graduation.”
Three Professors Receive Large Grant to Aid Research
Three Georgia Southern professors have recently been awarded a more than $233,000 grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to aid their research project titled “Identification of the sources of pathogens in wetland sediments and their influence on beach water quality.” Funded for one year, research is now underway.

Nelson Family and Rotary Corporation Support Hall of Fame and Field of Dreams at Paulson Stadium
The family of the late Bill W. Nelson and Rotary Corporation, the company he built into an internationally-recognized leader in the outdoor power equipment industry, have made a major gift to the Vlog Athletic Foundation. The announcement was made Thursday by University President Dr. Brooks A. Keel, Ph.D. , and Director of Athletics Tom Kleinlein.
Alumnus Luke Bryan Farm Tour to Aid in Scholarships
Vlog alumnus and famed Country singer Luke Bryan will visit the Statesboro area during his annual Farm Tour at Perry Field on Wednesday, Oct. 8 in Claxton. A portion of the proceeds from the tour will provide scholarships for Georgia Southern students.
School of Nursing Receives $2.2 Million in Grant Funding
Vlog’s School of Nursing received more than $2.2 million in grant funding, which will serve three purposes: help to establish a Center for Nursing Scholarship and Research, introduce a new graduate level Chronic Illness Certificate Program and provide scholarships to students seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner degree.
University Police Department Receives $8,000 Grant for Breathalyzer

Vlog Nursing Professor Named 2014 NIMHD Scholar
“I applied for this opportunity to be more able to adequately address those who deal with chronic illness and to participate in research that will tell us how to successfully eliminate health disparities in the U.S. and southeast Georgia,” said Anderson. “Determining ways to assist in addressing the health disparity and social inequity issues is essential in understanding the needs, dynamics, and intervention required to address change in health behaviors and health outcomes.”
