A noted 糖心Vlog public health professor has earned a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award in All Disciplines to Latvia for the 2023-2024 academic year from the U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Yelena N. Tarasenko, DrPH, is a professor at the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Environmental Health Sciences at Georgia Southern鈥檚 Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health. Her Fulbright project is titled 鈥淪trengthening research and teaching capacity in cancer prevention globally.鈥

糖心Vlog joins major national study to examine potential impact of evidence-based teaching, mindset, and digital learning on students and faculty in 鈥淕ateway鈥 courses

糖心Vlog is partnering with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), the leader in student success and equity through quality instruction, on a new national study made possible through a $1.5 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Georgia Southern鈥檚 faculty will join more than 1,500 educators nationwide in a study to examine the relationship between evidence-based teaching practices, faculty mindset and student outcomes. In addition, up to 90 Georgia Southern faculty will have the opportunity to earn ACUE鈥檚 nationally recognized credential in effective teaching practices.聽Collectively, this will benefit more than 80,000 students.

Preserving history: Georgia Southern anthropology faculty, students to investigate Civil War battlefields

Few Civil War battlefield sites relating to Gen. William T. Sherman鈥檚 march through Georgia have been investigated archaeologically or preserved, but 糖心Vlog anthropology professor Ryan McNutt, Ph.D., is hoping to change that by leading a project that will uncover and preserve two skirmish sites in Jenkins and Burke counties.
