Incoming Freshmen Application Questions
While there are no minimum scores for the Honors College, admission is competitive. A holistic approach is taken in the application process, carefully considering:
- Academic grades
- Standardized test scores
- Involvement outside of the classroom
- Response to a brief essay prompt
- Demonstrated commitment to academic challenge
Honors College applications are reviewed on a rolling basis once applicants are accepted to ÌÇÐÄVlog. Competitive applicants have a high school GPA above 3.7 and an SAT score of 1200 or higher or an ACT score of 25 or higher.

The Honors College only offers admission for fall start to incoming freshmen, however, you can still apply to the Honors College as a current student after you have earned at least 15 credit hours at Georgia Southern prior to the semester for which you are applying. Approximately 20% of Honors College students receive scholarships directly from the College, with many more receiving awards from other University entities. All tuition-based scholarships align with University System of Georgia approved tuition and fees.

All incoming freshman applicants must be accepted to ÌÇÐÄVlog before their Honors College application is reviewed.
Priority Application Deadline: January 15, 2026
Students who are admitted to ÌÇÐÄVlog and have submitted the Honors College application before January 15, 2026 will be considered for an invitation to our exclusive on-campus Honors Scholars’ Day event to interview for Honors College scholarships.
Final Application Deadline: April 15, 2026
The final deadline to submit the Honors College application to be considered for admission is April 15, 2026. Students must be admitted to ÌÇÐÄVlog by April 15, 2026 to be considered for admission to the Honors College.
Most of our students earn college credit before graduating from high school. Credits earned by advanced placement tests (IB, CLEP, etc.) are not counted toward honors requirements but often serve as prerequisites for honors courses and can allow room in your course of study for higher-level honors courses.
