About Us

Our Mission

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at ÌÇÐÄVlog is dedicated to enhancing student development by fostering a supportive environment that promotes leadership, civic engagement, academic excellence, and strong bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood. We are committed to building a vibrant and inclusive Greek community that enriches the college experience and prepares students for lifelong success.

Core Values

Academic Success: We strive to cultivate intellectual growth and academic achievement by recruiting quality students, offering targeted educational programming, providing academic resources, and recognizing scholastic excellence.

Brotherhood & Sisterhood: Fraternities and sororities at Georgia Southern provide lifelong bonds of support, friendship, and shared values. Our office builds strong partnerships with inter/national headquarters, campus departments, parents, and families to ensure holistic student development and a meaningful Greek experience.

Civic Engagement: We are committed to serving our campus, local, and global communities through volunteer work, philanthropy, and advocacy. Our chapters are expected to model accountability, compassion, and responsible citizenship.

Leadership: We empower students to lead with purpose by encouraging ethical decision-making, collaboration, and peer governance. Through risk management training and leadership development, we prepare members to be role models both on and off campus.

Programs

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life offers a range of programs designed to foster leadership, education, service, and personal growth within our Greek community. These initiatives also strengthen connections with the broader campus and local communities in Statesboro and Savannah.

For the Community

  • Trick-or-Treat on Greek Street: Our annual family-friendly Halloween event invites the Statesboro community to campus for candy, games, and safe trick-or-treating with our Greek organizations.
    • Join members of the Greek community for the annual Trick or Treat on Greek Street event. Members of the many Greek chapters on row will have their houses decorated and filled with candy, games, and family fun. Everyone is invited to come and trick or treat and enjoy fun events with us!

For the Councils

  • Council Executive Board Retreat: This retreat offers tailored leadership development, strategic planning, and team-building opportunities for the executive board members of each Greek council.

Get Involved

Fraternity and Sorority Ambassadors: Ambassadors serve as peer leaders who represent the Greek community and assist with events, recruitment, and outreach. It’s a great opportunity to build leadership skills and give back to the community.

For the Chapters

  • Hazing Prevention & Education: A year-round effort to educate students and prevent hazing through awareness campaigns, resources, and mandatory training.
  • National Hazing Prevention Week: A campus-wide initiative held each fall to reinforce our commitment to a safe and positive Greek experience.
  • Fraternity & Sorority Life Excellence Awards: An annual recognition event that honors chapters, councils, and individuals who demonstrate excellence in leadership, scholarship, service, and brotherhood/sisterhood.
  • New Member Institutes: These workshops support the transition of new members into Greek Life by covering key topics such as leadership, values, and campus involvement.
  • Presidents Retreat: A leadership and strategy workshop specifically designed for chapter presidents to enhance their skills and promote effective chapter management.

Lead & Serve

Fraternity and Sorority Life programs are designed to empower students, strengthen chapter leadership, and connect the Greek community with the Georgia Southern campus and beyond.

Recruitment

Please select the recruitment option for your Campus. Any recruitment to an organization not affiliated with your gender or primary campus will be invalidated.

For any additional questions, contact us at the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

In order to join a fraternity or sorority at ÌÇÐÄVlog, individuals must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Incoming freshmen must have a 2.75 or higher high school GPA, as calculated by the ÌÇÐÄVlog Office of Admissions. This GPA  is based on the Required High School Curriculum. This is NOT the final high school GPA listed on your transcript or your HOPE GPA. Before registering for any recruitment process, we encourage you to check your GPA using your online Admissions Status Check Page.
  • Current students with an established GPA may register for a recruitment process during their undergraduate collegiate career with a Georgia Southern overall GPA of 2.50 or higher based on at least 12 or more credits. Transfer students with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher based on at least 12 or more credits may also register for a recruitment process.

As you’re looking at your membership options, please keep in mind that some chapters may have a higher GPA requirement for membership. This requirement applies to both the Statesboro and Armstrong. Below are some additional pieces of information regarding eligibility:

  • East Georgia and Transient students ARE NOT eligible to join fraternities.
  • Students enrolled in the Georgia Tech program at Georgia Southern ARE eligible to join fraternities.
  • Grade requirements and hours are verified through the University.
  • Organizations can recruit members each semester, skip semesters, or participate once every other year. It is the decision of the individual fraternity or sorority when to accept members.
  • Dual-enrollment students are NOT eligible to join fraternities or sororities
  • An eligible student can ONLY join chapters based on their primary campus.
  • Currently enrolled Georgia Southern students can only join chapters on their designated primary campus. For example, if a student’s primary campus is Georgia Southern – Armstrong Campus, they are only eligible to join one of the established organizations on that campus.  They are not eligible to join one of the organizations established at the Statesboro campus. This will be based on the primary campus identified by the student at the time of admission.
