National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)

Welcome to the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) at Vlog! The NPHC is the governing body of the nine historically Black Greek-letter organizations, commonly known as the Divine Nine. These organizations were established to foster unity, service, leadership, and academic excellence among African American college students.

About the Divine Nine

The National Pan-Hellenic Council was founded on May 10, 1930, at Howard University by five organizations: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, and Zeta Phi Beta. Alpha Phi Alpha and Phi Beta Sigma joined in 1931, followed by Sigma Gamma Rho in 1937. Iota Phi Theta joined in 1997, completing the Divine Nine.

Georgia Southern’s NPHC chapter was established on November 10, 1999. Since then, it has worked to support unity across its organizations through programming, forums, and service projects that promote educational, economic, and cultural growth in the community.
