Certificates

As we seek to empower students to become dynamic leaders committed to making a positive impact in their communities, we are excited to provide the opportunity for students to earn certificates in three different areas. Join us for a transformative educational experience that goes beyond traditional boundaries, providing you with the tools to be a leader in your community and a force for positive change. Community Engagement Certificate

The purpose of this certificate is to provide students with an opportunity to gain awareness of service activities, engage in community assets, and gain experience that bolsters interpersonal skills and professionalism, while learning about community engagement. Students should complete all the pathways to earn this certificate.

This Badge is designed to familiarize students with community engagement.

Direct vs. Indirect Service

Direct Service Engage with the clientele served by an organization (eg. activities with elderly residents, games with kids, serving meals, etc.)
Indirect ServiceComplete a task for the organization that will benefit the clientele they serve (eg. painting walls, beautification of an area, etc.)

Good vs. Bad Service

Leader Development Certificate

Leadership is a journey of continuous growth and self-discovery. Our Leader Development Certificate is tailored to help you cultivate essential leadership qualities, from effective communication to strategic decision-making. Whether you’re a seasoned leader or just starting your leadership journey, this program will guide you towards unlocking your full leadership potential.

The purpose of this certificate is to:

  • Educate students on key areas of leadership development
  • Get students involved in leadership roles all around campus
  • Give students real-world skills to bolster their personal & professional development
  • Get students to reflect on their own leadership experiences & how to improve

This badge is designed to provide opportunities for students to gain more self-awareness about their identity as a leader.

  • To receive this badge, students will need to participate in two (2) Exploring Leadership workshops facilitated by the Office of Leadership & Community Engagement & log these experiences in Eagle Engage.
  • Spring 2025 Exploring Leadership Workshop Schedule
  • These workshops will all be hosted virtually via Zoom. To register for a workshop, please click the link above!

This badge is designed to provide an experiential opportunity to students to see their leadership skills in action.

  • To receive this badge, students will need to participate in a leadership role on campus for at least one (1) semester (Fall or Spring). At the end of the semester, complete this !

Sustainable Leadership Certificate

The Sustainable Leadership Certificate is a prestigious recognition that highlights a student’s commitment to Sustainability. This certificate program aims to cultivate leadership qualities and inspire students to actively engage in sustainable practices.

The purpose of this certificate is to:

  • Educate students on the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals & their overall objective.
  • Get students to dive further into a specific area of sustainability that is of interest to them and their personal goals/development.
  • Get students to participate in sustainable practices that they can apply on their own.
  • Get students to reflect on their experiences and how they contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.

This badge is designed to provide opportunities for students to familiarize students with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

To receive this badge, students will need to:

  • Review this video about the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals to learn more about the projections to facilitate sustainable development over the next decade.
  • Attend an Eagles For Sustainability Workshop.
  • Write a brief reflection on any of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals via .
  • This badge encourages students to participate in or create their own projects that align with a specific Sustainable Development Goal.

This Badge is an acknowledgment of a student’s leadership abilities demonstrated through their active participation in a sustainability project.

To receive this badge, students must:

  • Participate in the planning and execution of Southern Sustainability Week, facilitate a workshop, assist with the community Garden or, complete and submit a project proposal for the Sustainable Project Proposal Fund.
  • Complete 2 Leadership Coaching  1:1 sessions.
  • Complete a reflection via .

This Badge is designed for students to reflect on how they have contributed to a specific Sustainable Development Goal through their participation in the Sustainable Leadership Certificate Program.

To receive this badge, students must:

  • Complete this reflection via .

Upon completion of all the above items, and receipt of the three Badges, receive a verification email of completion and receive their Sustainable Leadership Certificate at our end of year graduation ceremony.
