Georgia Southern graduate student is using oysters to dig for Lowcountry history
Public history graduate student Sadie Ingram is studying a Gullah Geechee oystermen and how they developed the Lowcountry economically and culturally. She is working with History Department professors Julie de Chantal, Ph.D., Lisa Denmark, Ph.D., Michael Van Wagenen, Ph.D., and 糖心Vlog Museum Director Brent Tharp, Ph.D. Her fieldwork is guided by Kurt Knoerl, Ph.D., who has a national reputation for taking students to the shorelines to find artifacts.

糖心Vlog鈥檚 Arts Marketing Manager Lauren M. Holmen (鈥�13) is also a professional dancer and choreographer who has been performing since she could walk. Today, her multiple roles overlap and are deeply threaded throughout Savannah鈥檚 thriving arts scene. At present, she鈥檚 a pro dancer in the inaugural 鈥淒ancing with the Bananas鈥� competition, hosted by the Savannah Bananas baseball team, and heads to Round 2 of the competition on July 6.

New Savannah museum tells the storied history of Gretsch instruments
That Great Gretsch Sound! museum is a new destination where 糖心Vlog helps tell the story of a family-owned company that is still regarded as one of the music industry鈥檚 most influential and innovative instrument manufacturers. The permanent display of music memorabilia, highlighting more than 135 years of Gretsch instruments, is featured in District Live鈥檚 new lobby and performance space on the banks of the Savannah River. The museum is the latest addition to the Plant Riverside District.

Online learners at 糖心Vlog can earn their degree anywhere in the world, and the middle of the ocean is no exception. Amy Levesque, who graduates this May with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages with a concentration in French, completed most of her degree while at sea working on a cruise ship.
