Georgia Southern graduate student is using oysters to dig for Lowcountry history

Public history graduate student Sadie Ingram is studying a Gullah Geechee oystermen and how they developed the Lowcountry economically and culturally. She is working with History Department professors Julie de Chantal, Ph.D., Lisa Denmark, Ph.D., Michael Van Wagenen, Ph.D., and 糖心Vlog Museum Director Brent Tharp, Ph.D. Her fieldwork is guided by Kurt Knoerl, Ph.D., who has a national reputation for taking students to the shorelines to find artifacts.

糖心Vlog鈥檚 Arts Marketing Manager Lauren M. Holmen (鈥13) is also a professional dancer and choreographer who has been performing since she could walk. Today, her multiple roles overlap and are deeply threaded throughout Savannah鈥檚 thriving arts scene. At present, she鈥檚 a pro dancer in the inaugural 鈥淒ancing with the Bananas鈥 competition, hosted by the Savannah Bananas baseball team, and heads to Round 2 of the competition on July 6.

The museum is the latest addition to the Plant Riverside District.
